Hey, I’m glad you’re here.

My name’s Dallas Bostick, and this blog wasn’t just built from scratch—it was born from one of the hardest days of my life.

Before everything changed, I was a hands-on guy. I worked in water mitigation and mold remediation. Long days, dirty jobs, lots of sweat and tools. It was a grind, but I loved it.

Then one scorching afternoon on a job site, everything went sideways.

I’d been helping tear out some water-damaged flooring and baseboards when I got hit with a splitting headache. I figured it was heat stroke—94° outside and no breeze to speak of. I stepped out for water, came back in, looked at my partner, and said, “Call my wife.”

I never finished that conversation.

Next thing I knew, I woke up in a hospital bed. I couldn’t talk. I couldn’t move. I was seeing double. My brain had suffered an AVM (Arteriovenous Malformation) rupture and a stroke—right at the brain stem. The kind of thing most people don’t walk away from.

I spent nearly three months in the hospital, learning how to exist all over again. I'm now wheelchair-bound, with limited movement on my right side. I can't work with my hands like I used to. That part of my life is gone.

But I’m still here. And I’ve found a new way forward.

These days, I build with my brain. I’m learning to blog. I share practical DIY insights, tools, and tips—especially for folks like me who want to stay in control of their home without breaking the bank or calling in help for every little thing.

If you’re new to home repairs, working on a tight budget, or living with physical limitations like I am, this blog is for you. I keep it simple. I keep it honest. And I make sure you leave each post feeling a little more confident than when you came in.

This is more than a blog. It’s proof that even when life hits hard, you can still build something worthwhile.

Welcome aboard.
